The Nature Materials

Exhibition of Richard Loskot and Michal Šimonfy art.

On 12 November, we went to the Central Slovak Gallery. At the first look it looks really strange because first room was almost empty. There were just five mirrors and head-light. When lights switched out, we saw how was light from head-light reflect by mirrors. It was little bit boring for me.

Whole exhibition was full of surprises. I like idea with rose and lights which show shadow behind rose. I also like The fruit map which showed us that Banská Bystrica is full of fruit trees and London isn´t (haha).

The most interesting for me was machine. This machine measure heartbeats of two people and when their heart beated at the same time, one circle went out from others and became bigger.

I enjoyed this exhobition and I look forward to next exhibition.

Kitsh & Pop art

KITSCH is a style of mass-produced art or design using cultural icons. It´s
pleasingly distasteful, melodramatic, gaudy, or sentimental and folksy. Sometimes, it is a mixing of different styles, so that it's often very colourful with the many decorations.

POP ART was U.S. and British movement in 1950s and 1960s to react against Abstract Expressionism. Pop art makes ordinary things extraorginary. There is use strong colours, aspects of mass culture, such as advertising and comic books.

The examples of kitsch from my home:

My example of kitsch :
I drew fountain which looks like big pineapple. I drew it because I was very hungry and I like pineapples. I was inspired by Claes Oldenburg.

The exhibition : A Conversation Leading Elsewhere

Maria Čorejová
A Conversation Leading Elsewhere
(in slovak "Rozhovory, ktoré vedú inam")
We were in "Stredoslovenská galeria" with our Art and Culture´s teacher last week.In the 1st part of our visit some woman told us something about exhibtion and we discussed about main ideas in the exhibition. I liked pictures with boats and her portrait. On this portrait she has not face, but she has a boat. It express her feelings. In the 2nd part, we could choose a copy of one of Maria Čorajova´s works and develop it ourselves. In my group we chose balloon and boat, cut it and made a collage. Then we draw sun and birds. Sun and birds expressed hope. Boat, balloon and water expressed despair. I really enjoy this exhobition.

How wine is made of grape

Grapes grow on vines. Climate, weather, topography, and soil composition must be perfect for the vines to produce, and for the grapes to ripen properly.

The next most important factor in wine making is choosing the right time to harvest (pick) the grapes.  Several factors will be considered including sugar levels, color and taste. It’s also important for grapes to be picked carefully.

At some point, the grapes will be separated from their stems and leaves, usually by a special machine. It is at this point that red grapes will be treated differently than white grapes.

Fermentation is the process that converts a grape’s naturally occurring sugar to alcohol. All wine grapes have some wild yeast present already, but these yeast strains are very unpredictable.  At some time during the fermentation process or just after fermentation, red wine skins are separated from their juices.

Once the appropriate alcohol content has been reached and fermentation is complete, the yeast and any other particles left behind must be separated from the finished product.  This is done by racking, fining, and filtering if necessary.

The final step in the wine making process is putting the finished liquid into its bottle and labeling it. Some wines will be ready to drink right away.  Most will be aged for a time before they are released to the public.

Youth Without Youth

A review of Youth Without Youth

We saw Youth Without Youth on Art&Culture lessons. It is mysterious love story directed by Francis Ford Coppola and written by Mircea Eliade and Coppola.
The main character is Dominic, starring Tim Roth. Other main characters are Veronica, Laura (Alexandra Lara), professor Stanciulescu (Bruno Ganz) and Jozef Rudolf (André Hennicke)
The film take place in Europe before World War II. It is about man who is struck by lighting. After a slow recovery, he grows younger.
At first I thought that it is very sad film and I liked it, but later I misunderstood it. It is not classic american film in which you know end at the begin. It is moving and little bit scary.
I recommend you this film. Maybe you will understand and enjoy it. :)
